Here are three good points to consider when selecting your wedding photographer. Remember you will spend the most time with them out of all your vendors. Really the only other person you will see that much of on your wedding day is your partner you are marrying!
ASK YOUR FRIENDS WHO THEY USED BUT ALSO DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
If you know someone who got married ask them who they used. They may give you some great insight. Do remember that every photographer has their own style so make sure your taste matches their images. Do you like dark and dramatic or light and airy? Those are things to think about before starting the search for the right photographer. You may want someone that does a bit of both. Start a list of question you can ask your potential photographer when you set up that meeting.
PRICE OUT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS YOU WANT BEFORE MAKING YOUR BUDGET.
Many people do this the opposite way. They start with a budget and try to make everything fit into it. Yes this is practical for many people and does make sense BUT it does not make sense when your photographs are the only thing that lasts past your actual wedding day. Do your research! Find a few photographers that fit the style and look you want on your day. Contact them all and get prices. This will allow you to see how much great work will actually cost vs what you want it to cost. Weddings are expensive but at the end of the day your images will be all you have left to look back on your day.
SET A TIME AND DATE TO MEET EACH OTHER
In today’s day and age you can meet anyone know matter the location. FaceTime and Skype have made this possible. Meet the photographers and get to know them. Remember you will spend a good portion of the day with them. You need to enjoy their energy and vibe. Do you like a hyper and energetic person or a laid back and go with the flow one. These are things you will be able to find out during this meeting.
